Step #1

Bring water to boil, on high stove heat.

Step #2

Once the water comes to boil, add the ramen (do not break up the dried ramen, if you want your noodles to remain long). Then add the soup powder to the noodle. With the soup powder on the ramen, turn over the noodle. Continue cooking the noodle on high stove heat for 2.5 minutes

TIP: If you add the soup powder directly to boiling water, it will bubble over, creating a mess by possibly flowing over the pot. OR if you add the soup powder to the water before it boils, it will start foaming as the liquid comes to boil.

TIP: Instead of adding the dehydrated vegetable packet, use fresh scallions. Adding the fresh scallions will enhance the taste of your ramen broth. For me personally, the dehydrated vegetables make the instant ramen taste even more instant-ramen-like. This is a personal choice, so if you prefer to add dehydrated vegetables, please do so.

Step #3

Pull out the noodles into a bowl at 2.5 minutes of cooking.

Step #4

Optional ramen broth enhancements: Add either the fish sauce or ketchup to the broth.

Quickly add the mandu/dumplings, rice cakes, whole egg, and scallions to the pot. Place the lid and cook on high heat for 30 seconds. 30 seconds later, turn off the heat, and with the lid on, let it rest for 1 minute.

TIP: If you don't want a soft poached egg, after you add the egg to the broth, poke it with chopsticks and stir it only 2 to 3 times so the eggs cook in clusters. If you over stir the egg in the broth, it will make your broth cloudy and very "eggy" in taste. 🌱Vegan friends using plant-based egg liquid, just add the egg liquid in the center of the pot (do not stir), and let it cook as is so it cooks in clusters.

Have a quick taste once the 1 minute resting period is completed. If the broth tastes too salty, add some hot water. If the broth tastes too bland, add some salt and adjust according to your personal salty preference.

Step #5

While the cooking process is happening in Step #4, gently toss the cooked noodles, using kitchen tongs, for a good minute. This air tossing is to cool down the noodles from cooking further. Doing so will ensure that your noodles remain al dente, slightly soft, and yet chewy.

Step #6

As soon as the 1-minute resting is done (in Step #4), transfer the broth, cooked mandu/dumplings, rice cakes, egg, and scallions to the noodle bowl.

Step #7

When it comes to instant ramen, it is the tastiest when consumed within 5 minutes of completing the cooking. The instant ramen noodles will quickly absorb the broth and will become soggy and soft in minutes.

TIP #1

맛있는 한국라면을 사용하세요.

TIP #2

건더기 대신 파를 사용하십시오.

Instead of adding the dehydrated vegetable packet, use fresh scallions. Doing so will enhance the taste of your instant ramen to taste less-instant-ramen-like.

TIP #3

TIP #4

쫄깃쫄깃한 면 끓이는 방법: 면을 2.5분 이하로 삶아주세요. 삶은 면을 바로 그릇에 옮겨 담는다. 1분 동안 면을 부드럽게 저어 식혀줍니다.

How to cook the ramen noodles to taste al dente, slightly soft and chewy. Cook the noodles for 2.5 minutes or less. Pull out the cooked noodles and transfer them to a bowl. For about 1 minute, gently toss the noodles to cool down the noodles.

TIP #5

맛있는 라면국물 만드는 2가지 꿀팁: 멸치액젓 (1/2 작은술) 또는 케첩을 (1 작은술)사용하십시오.

Ramen broth enhancement options: Fish Sauce (1/2 teaspoon) or Ketchup (1 teaspoon)

TIP #6

라면을 바로 그릇에 옮겨 담는다. 5 분 이내에 드시는 것이 가장 맛있습니다.

Transfer the cooked ramen and broth to a bowl ASAP and enjoy it right away. Eating your ramen directly from the hot pot will continue cooking the noodles, and the noodles will get bloated and soft quickly. Instant ramen noodles are the tastiest when consumed within 5 minutes of cooking. The longer the cooked noodles sit in the broth, it will absorb the liquid quickly, making the noodles bloated and soggy.

If you end up with extra ramen broth, add some warm Korean rice to it and enjoy!
