1 lb = 450 grams


INGREDIENTS/재료

Serving Size: 2 to 3 Adults

2 Serving Size Korean Curry Cubes or Powder (Japanese brand also works) 카레 페이스트 2인분

  • Comes in Mild, Medium, Spicy and Extra Spicy.

225 Grams Chicken 닭고기 가슴살

  • Substitutions: Lean beef or pork. Shrimp or large scallops. 🌱Smoked tofu cubes or cauliflower chunks

  • 1 Pinch 꼬집 Black Pepper 후추

  • 2 Pinches 꼬집 Garlic Powder 마늘가루

  • 2 Pinches 꼬집 Salt 소금

250 Grams Potato 감자

  • 1 Pinch 꼬집 Salt 소금

180 Grams Onion 양파

  • 1 Pinch 꼬집 Salt 소금

120 Grams Tomato 토마토

100 Grams Carrot 당근

1 Tablespoon 큰술 Oil 식용유

½ Tablespoon 큰술 Jin Soy Sauce 진간장

3 Cups 컵 Hot Water 뜨거운 물


Upgrade Option: 2 Tablespoons 큰술 Heavy Cream 휘핑크림

  • 🌱 Substitution: Use soybean cream or butter

Garnish 고명:

1 Scallion, Minced 다진 쪽파

Right now, Amazon.com has only one Korean brand curry for sale. BUT these Japanese curry are also delicious. I grew up eating both Korean and Japanese curry brands. For any of these brands, add two servings of the curry as indicated on the package

Step One

Protein Prep

Cut the chicken breast into big chunks. (Cut the carrots, potato, and onions into similar size.). Add the following ingredients to the chicken chunks and mix well.

  • Substitutions: Lean beef or pork. Shrimp or large scallops. 🌱Smoked tofu cubes or cauliflower chunks

  • 1 Pinch 꼬집 Black Pepper 후추

  • 2 Pinches 꼬집 Garlic Powder 마늘가루

  • 2 Pinches 꼬집 Salt 소금

Step Two

Vegetable Prep

Cut the following into big chunks (similar size to the chicken breast)

  • 180 Grams Onion 양파

  • 250 Grams Potato 감자

  • 100 Grams Carrot 당근

  • 120 Grams Tomato 토마토

Step Three

Cooking The Curry

Have all the ingredients prepped and ready to go because we will be stir frying the ingredients quickly at HIGH heat.


Set the stove heat to HIGH and preheat your sauté pan for 1 to 2 minutes.

Add the oil to your preheat pan.

  • 1 Tablespoon 큰술 Oil 식용유

Then quickly add the chicken and potato to the pan. Spread the potato and chicken chunks evenly on the pan, spread out. Then add a pinch of salt to the potato.

  • 225 Grams Chicken 닭고기 가슴살

  • 250 Grams Potato 감자

  • 1 Pinch 꼬집 Salt 소금

With the stove heat remaining HIGH, leave the chicken and potato alone for a good minute or until you see a golden sear mark on the chicken and potato (just on one side).


Then quickly add the tomato chunks, and mix it around in the pan. Stir fry on HIGH heat for 30 seconds. Make sure to scrape the bottom of the pan, as the tomato chunks melt in the pan.

  • 120 Grams Tomato 토마토

Then quickly add the onion chunks to the pan. Add a pinch of salt to the onions.

  • 180 Grams Onion 양파

  • 1 Pinch 꼬집 Salt 소금

Mix the onions in the pan and stir fry on high heat for 30 seconds. Make sure to scrape the bottom of the pan as you mix and stir fry the ingredients in the pan.


Then quickly add the hot water, carrot chunks, soy sauce, and curry paste to the pan. Mix the ingredients around while scraping the bottom of the pan, on HEAT heat for 30 seconds.

  • 3 Cups 컵 Hot Water 뜨거운 물

  • 100 Grams Carrot 당근

  • ½ Tablespoon 큰술 Jin Soy Sauce 진간장

Then add the curry paste to the middle of the pan. Make sure the curry paste is submerged fully in the broth, and let it sit on high HEAT for 30 seconds. 30 seconds later, mix the curry paste around to make sure the paste is completely dissolved in the broth.

  • 2 Serving Size Korean Curry Cubes

Then cover the pan with a lid, lower the stove heat to LOW, and simmer for 7 to 8 minutes.

7 to 8 minutes later, poke the potato with a chopstick. The chopstick should go in easily. Then this is done!

Now, if you add the heavy cream, you'll take your curry sauce to the next level.

Upgrade Option: 2 Tablespoons 큰술 Heavy Cream 휘핑크림

  • 🌱 Substitution: Use soybean cream or butter

Make sure to garnish with minced scallions before eating. The fresh scallion adds a nice fresh herb taste to the curry sauce.

Garnish 고명: 1 Scallion, Minced 다진 쪽파


Now when it comes to having curry, you need to have it with warm Korean rice! NOPE, Jasmine, basmati or other Asian will not go well with Korean curry. See below to learn how to make fluffy and moist Korean rice at home. OR if in a pinch, enjoy with precooked Korean microwavable rice.
