MiSuGaRu: Korea's Ultimate Multigrain Superfood Protein Powder Shake (미숫가루) [HEALTHY SHAKES]

Misugaru (미숫가루) is a classic Korean drink that consists of a variety of roasted multi-grains turned in super fine powder. It is enjoyed as Healthy Protein Shake from little kids to grandparents. Misugaru is Korea's ultimate Super Food drink that is loaded with protein and it has been around for centuries.

AND it is super yummy in taste with its naturally sweet and nutty fragrance. (No, it does not taste or smell like peanuts.) It smells like a freshly toasted bread...SO YUM! Also, it does not have that "industrial-grade taste" that many protein powders on the market have, leaving you that weird and heavy aftertaste. Misugaru, on the other hand, makes you wanting more because of its smooth and yummy aftertaste.

RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS

Shake #1

In a cocktail shaker or plastic blender bottle, pour half of your milk, drop in the shaker ball, add the rest of the ingredients and pour the rest of the milk on top. (Do not add the Misugaru first in the shaker or blender bottle, before adding the milk. If you add the Misugaru first, the powder will get stuck at the bottom of the shaker and you'll end up with clumps stuck at the bottom.) Tap the 2nd shaker to make a tight seal on the first shaker (or tightly seal the blender bottle) and shake for good 10-15 seconds. To break the pressure seal of the cocktail shakers, gently tap the rim of the larger shaker against your kitchen counter. This gentle tap should release the locked-in pressure of the cocktail shakers. Pour into a pint glass and enjoy!

Prepare your iced coffee according to your preference. In a cocktail shaker or plastic blender bottle, pour half of your iced coffee, drop in the shaker ball, add the rest of the ingredients and pour the rest of the milk on top. (Do not add the Misugaru first in the shaker or blender bottle, before adding the milk. If you add the Misugaru first, the powder will get stuck at the bottom of the shaker and you'll end up with clumps stuck at the bottom.) Tap the 2nd shaker to make a tight seal on the first shaker (or tightly seal the blender bottle) and shake for good 10-15 seconds. Shake #3

In a blender, add all the ingredients listed above, and blend for good 10-15 seconds. (In this video recipe, VitaMix blender is used.) You might need to blend a bit longer if using a less powerful blender. This shake is velvety, creamy, and so smooth...YUM!

Shake #4

In a blender, add the ingredients listed above (except for chocolate syrup and peanut butter) in a blender and blend for good 10-15 seconds. (In this video recipe, VitaMix blender is used.) You might need to blend a bit longer if using a less powerful blender. Add the chocolate syrup around the interior rim of the serving glass (as shown in the video). Using a butter knife, spread the peanut butter inside the serving glass. (Make sure to bring the peanut butter to room temperature. Let it sit on your kitchen counter for 10 minutes.) Pour the shake in the glass and enjoy it! Make sure to have a spoon ready to scrap up the peanut butter and chocolate syrup on the side.
