RECIPE INSTRUCTION
To Make The Bloody-Looking/Bleeding Tteok/Korean Rice Cake Candles:
If you are using Tteok/Korean Rice Cakes that comes in vacuum-sealed bags, lightly coat the tteok with cold water and "defrost" it to lightly soften the tteok.
Presoak the bamboo skewers in water for 5 to 10 minutes. Using the pointy part of the skewer, gently insert it into the end of the cylinder-shaped tteok, about 1/3 insertion.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Generously drench the skewered tteok in melted butter. Lay all the skewered tteok on a baking sheet with a piece of foil or parchment paper underneath to prevent the tteok from sticking. Bake the skewered tteok for 10 minutes. Once done, gently dust the tteok with sugar. Then place the sugar-coated skewered tteok in the freezer for about 5 minutes to cool down the tteok and harden the sugar coating.
Dip the tip of the sugar-coated skewered tteok into a small bowl of the red food coloring. Place the skewer in the bloody-looking/bleeding brain cauliflower, and you'll notice the dripping of the red food coloring on the tteok, making it look as though it is literally bleeding. Once you are done with placing all the red-food-coloring-dipped skewers into the cauliflower, add just a little bit of the red icing/frosting on the tip of the bleeding tteok. Then add one tiny piece of the chocolate on top. The chocolate piece is supposed to mimic the look of a burnt candle.
To Make The Bloody-Looking/Bleeding Brain:
In a large serving platter, place the entire head of the cauliflower (remove the root ends). Pour some of the red food colorings on the cauliflower. With your disposable gloves on, rub the red food coloring around the head of the cauliflower and around the platter, to create the look of bloodstains. Let the food coloring dry for about 5 to 10 minutes. Using a paper towel, gently remove the excess food coloring at the center of the serving platter.
To Make The Brain Chips:
In a large Ziploc bag, place the uncooked Sapporo Ichiban Ramen Noodles, 1 of the soup powder that comes with the ramen noodles, and sweet paprika. (If you prefer a saltier taste, then add both of the soup powder packages.) Seal the Ziploc bag and break the noodles into bite-size chunks. Then shake the bag vigorously to mix the soup powder and sweet paprika. (Optional spicy taste: Add some cayenne pepper or Korean Red Pepper Paste/GoChuGaRu to the Ziploc bag).
To Make The Platter Of Bloody Candles With Bleeding Brain and Crunchy Brain Chips:
Scatter the Brain Chips around the base of the cauliflower brain. Then add the Halloween props (bugs, worms, skeleton heads, broken body parts, eyeballs...etc) in between the Bloody Tteok Candle skewers and brain chips.
Have a FUN-FILLED & SAFE Halloween with your friends and family!!!
